Creating Slide Show Presentations Using MXplorer

                    Collect Several Digital Photos of the Same Event orTheme

          Files MUST be .jpg or .gif format (Sony Mavica cameras save as .jpg)

          Files MUST be upright (portrait)

          Files MUST be in the same 'folder' or 'level'
                     (Having them all on a 3 ½ floppy disk is great!)

          Files MUST be PREVIEWED for image quality and to select only images that are appropriate for an elementary school audience

                      Set up Television Display for your Dell Laptop: 

 

  1. Turn on TV.  Put TV/Video setting at Video 1. (Use button of front of television or “Video In” option on TV Remote.)
  2. Check that all laptop cables are plugged in, including the S-Video cable to the TV.
  3.             Turn Laptop on (or whatever computer you’re using), Login as Reader

 

 


  1.           IF there is no computer image showing on the TV from the computer,

               Select (Click) the ATI icon on the bottom right of the desktop,

               Select (Click) “Schemes”, Select (Click) “TV”

  1. IF there is still no computer image showing on the TV:  Try the Video 2 TV setting if Video 1 setting won’t work. (try the “TV/VIDEO” button on the TV or the “TV/VIDEO” or “INPUT” button on the tv’s remote control)

 

 

 

 

3.                        (OPTIONAL) Coordinate/Collect Background Music

 

Music from any standard music CD can work well as background music.

For a standard music CD, simply insert it in the cd drive of the computer, or another cd player.  (If you wish to use MP3’s:  To start an .mp3 music file, locate the file & double click it.)

 

Adjust volume if necessary, by clicking speaker icon on the taskbar on the bottom right of the screen.   (If more volume control options are necessary, there are additional controls on the music player programs, and even more controls if you double click the speaker icon on the taskbar.)

 

Minimize Music Player Window (as it is still playing.)

 

 

 

4.                  

1.  To begin using the slide show program, double click MXExplorer Shortcut  (Use the rainbow eye icon shortcut on the desktop.)

 

2.  Click "I Agree" if the option appears on the screen

 

3.  Using the File Locator on the lower right of the screen,

        find and select the correct location (drive and folder) of

        the photos to be viewed (Look for Drive A to find your 3 ½ floppy)

 

Note:  The selected files will be listed in the upper right of the screen (file names only)      

By selecting the file name, each photo slide can be viewed. (IF there are slides             that ARE NOT appropriate for the presentation, they can be deleted by clicking on the file name, viewing, and clicking the delete button, but this deletion will be permanent.)

 

4.  Go to the "View Menu," and select "Slide Show" to preview photos

         Note:  Timing, sizing, etc. settings are all ready set

                   The left mouse button will progress more quickly to the next slide            

               

5.   Use 'Escape' Key to exit when you are done previewing your slide show.

                           To Start Slide Show using MXExplorer:

 

While the music is playing and after the photos have been previewed and while still in the MXExplorer program - 

 

                  Go to the "View Menu," and select "Slide Show"

 

When you are ready to quit the slide show -

 

                   Use 'Escape' Key to exit slide show

Close MXExplorer (Using X in upper right corner)

Close Music Player (If you’re using Music, close the music player with the X in upper right corner)

 

 

 

6.                  

                     Archive Files (Note:  This can be done at any time.)

 

          Create a new folder on the desktop or in My Documents

          named with the date and topic of the photographs.

          Copy all files used (Photos and audio) into the folder.
