Creating Slide Show Presentations for the

            Willow Brook Elementary Television Show, WBES

 

 

1.  Collect 10-20 Digital Photos of the Same Event or Theme

          Files MUST be .jpg or .gif format

          Files MUST be upright (portrait)

          Files MUST be in the same 'folder' or 'level'

          Files MUST be PREVIEWED for image quality and to select only those

images that are appropriate for broadcasting to an elementary school audience

 

2.  Coordinate/Collect Background Music

          Preferred format:  .mp3!  (See collection on WBES computer desktop)

          (The music may also be a standard music CD, but this is set up differently.)

         

3.  To Prepare Laptop for WBES Broadcast: 

          Turn Laptop on, Login as Reader

          Select (Click on) the ATI icon on the bottom right of the desktop,

          Select  (Click on) Schemes, Select (Click on) TV

         

 

4.  Start Music File & check to see if audible or plugged in

          Note:  Settings for .mp3's are all ready, thus

          making this the preferred music format, by a long shot!

          To start an .mp3 music file, locate the file & double click it.

          (Sound will not be audible if ‘audio out’ cable is plugged in.)

To hear sound from the laptop: disconnect the 'audio out' cable,

          listen to music and adjust volume if necessary - mid level is usually

          sufficient.  When finished previewing sound, re-connect 'audio out' cable.

 

5.  To Complete the Music Set-Up:        

Verify that the 'audio out' cable is plugged in. 

Minimize Music Player Window (as it is still playing.)

 

6. Double Click MXExplorer Shortcut  (Use the rainbow eye icon shortcut on the desktop.)

          Click "I Agree" if the option appears on the screen

          Using the File Locator on the lower right of the screen,

                   find and select the correct location (drive and folder) of

                   the photos to be viewed

          Note:  These selected files will now be listed in the

upper right of the screen (file names only)      

 

7.  Go to "View Menu," and select "Slide Show" to preview photos

          Note:           Timing, sizing, etc. settings are all ready set

                   The 'Escape" Key will end the show

                   The left mouse button will go to the next slide

                   IF there are slides that ARE NOT appropriate for the

                             presentation, they can be deleted, but it

                             will be permanent. 

                   By selecting the file name, slide can be viewed and/or deleted

                   REMAIN IN THE MXExplorer PROGRAM

 

8.  To Display Slides and Music on WBES Broadcast using MXExplorer:

          While the music is playing and the photos have been previewed, 

While in the MXExplorer Program:

Go to the "View Menu," and select "Slide Show"

          On the Switch Box for the Video In for the TV:

Turn the knob to “Computer”

          (Recommended:  Leave the slide show on during the broadcast, and simply

          use the Switch Box to switch from the computer to the camera and

          back to the computer again when the broadcast is finished.)

         

         

9. When broadcast is finished....

          Unplug Audio/Video from the wall inputs in the WBES Studio

          TURN OFF TV AND VCR

          Use 'Escape' Key to exit slide show

          Close MXExplorer (Using X in upper right corner)

          Close Music Player (Using X in upper right corner)

                  

10. Archive Files (Note:  This can be done before or following the broadcast.)

          Create a new folder on the desktop of the WBES computer,

          named with the date and topic of the slide show

          Copy all files used (Photos and audio) into the folder
